CHECKERS

Checkers

English draughts with the rules this engine actually enforces: captures are compulsory, a chain is one move, a man is crowned at the far rank. The board is not fixed at eight by eight — every size from 4 to 14 works, and the pieces start on a dark-square parity, so odd-column boards hand one side a piece more rather than pretending otherwise.

Click a piece, then a highlighted square. A chain is played hop by hop — right-click or Escape unwinds it.

Puzzles

Every position here has been through the engine's verifier: a forced win within the stated plies against every reply, at least one legal move that fails, and no win available in one. A generator that cannot prove a position returns nothing rather than inventing a puzzle.

Settings

Board

Rows 4–14, columns 4–14. The starting ranks are derived from the height (floor((rows − 2) / 2)), which guarantees an empty row between the camps for every size. The size applies to your NEXT game.

Rules and display

Off is English draughts: a man jumps forwards only (a king always jumps both ways). On is international-style capture — and because captures are compulsory, turning it on can change which piece you must move.
